EXPERIENCED ENGINEERING LEADER JOINS MANTLE TO HELP LAUNCH THE FIRST RELIABLE, MODERN 3D PRINTER FOR PRECISION TOOLMAKING
July 28, 2022 – Mantle, whose metal 3D printing technology combines the precision of a CNC machine with the freedom of a 3D printer, announced today that Lalo Ruiz has joined the company as Vice President of Engineering. Ruiz brings over 20 years of experience building and leading product development teams and delivering software-driven hardware and automation solutions.
Ruiz served most recently as VP of Robotics at Ripcord, a robotics and machine learning company focused on automating data capture from printed sources. Prior to Ripcord, Ruiz held engineering leadership roles at Matternet, L2F, QBotix, Danaher Motion, and Intel. In addition to Ruiz’s experience building and leading teams, he has deep expertise in control systems design, mechatronics, structural design, and simulation. Ruiz holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Davis, and an MS in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Dynamics and Controls from Santa Clara University.
“Mantle has transitioned from an R&D-led company developing our technology to a company that is now shipping systems and materials to our customers,” commented Ted Sorom, Mantle’s CEO and co-founder. “Lalo brings tremendous experience delivering reliable, modern machines to the market while building amazingly talented engineering teams.”
“I was drawn to Mantle because of its focus on easy-to-use, software-driven solutions that automate and simplify the complex toolmaking process,” stated Ruiz. “I look forward to developing innovative solutions that reduce our customer’s lead times and cost while unlocking new possibilities in tool design.”
